Solar PV for your home

Cheap, clean energy for life

How much does a Solar PV system cost?

Frequently Asked Questions

How do home solar systems work?

A photovoltaic (PV) solar energy system is composed of solar panels, appropriate mounting system for the panels on the roof, electrical wiring, an inverter and system monitoring. From sunrise to sunset, the solar panels generate direct current electricity (DC) which is sent to the inverter. The inverter converts the DC into alternating current (AC), the type of electricity required for household use. Then, the AC power is delivered directly to your home’s main electrical service panel for use by you and your family.

What is system monitoring?

With continuing advances in product technology, it is now possible to not only monitor the performance of your PV system, but also the consumption of electricity you draw from the grid. This monitoring is viewed via a web portal and is monitored both by our customers and Cobra Energy support staff in our offices. This available data allows us to not only accurately see how the system is performing, but also have the data necessary to evaluate battery storage, hot water heating and level of export back to the grid.

Which solar panels do we use?

Each Solar PV system is designed to suit the individual circumstances of the property. PV panels are available in monocrystalline or polycrystalline and any panel that Cobra Energy uses will be independently rated as a Tier 1 MCS Approved product.
